What Is An Endless Pool Swim Spa?

Swim spa, resistance pool, endless pool… these three terms are often used interchangeably, but they all translate to the same basic concept - a spa pool that incorporates swim-in-place technology.

But, an Endless Pools Fitness System is SO much more than that!

In fact, it is the ultimate cost-effective swimming pool alternative in Napier and the wider Hawkes Bay. Filling the gap between spa pools and traditional swimming pools, an Endless Pools Swim Spa allows you to soak away the aches and pains of the day, have oodles of family fun, or conduct your entire fitness regime within its four aesthetically pleasing sides!

These are just some of the awesome activities you can do in your Endless Pools Swim Spa:

  • Swimming in place in what feels like the smooth current or turbulent free open water
  • Swim, play or relax with the family
  • Soothe tired muscles
  • Aquacise with a variable speed underwater treadmill for low impact running or walking
  • Enjoy the benefits of hydrotherapy with a relaxing massage from powerful jets

Swim Spa vs Regular Pool: Which Wins?

How do you know if a swim spa is right for you instead of a traditional swimming pool?

Well, let’s look at some of the common comparisons between the two options:

Swimming Pools:

✅ Swim in your own backyard whenever you want to
❌ Strict legal requirements such as council consent and fencing
❌ Significant cost investment - installing an in-ground pool can cost anywhere between $40,000 and $150,000 and ongoing maintenance can cost approx $1000 a year
❌ Your backyard shape or size may limit your pool options
❌ Not always useable all year round

Swim Spas:

✅ Fewer legal requirements - only a lockable cover and removable steps required
✅ Swim as far or as fast as you want at any time of the year
✅ Multi purpose use - soak, swim, play, exercise, or rejuvenate
✅ Portable: you can literally take your pool with you to a new location
✅ Energy efficient and easy to maintain
✅ Affordable alternative - pricing starts from $35,000

For most families, a swim spa is the ideal cost-effective swimming pool alternative in Napier and Hastings as it’s a great solution for their swimming and exercise needs.

A Detailed Step-By-Step Swim Spa Installation Guide

Is your home ready for a new Endless Pools Swim Spa? It’s time to make sure that it is! While Hot Spring Spas team will do the heavy lifting for you, quite literally, there are still some things you need to do to prepare the installation area ahead of delivery.

Here’s a quick swim spa installation guide:

Step 1: Installation Area

The first step will be to decide where to place your swim spa. Obviously, you will need to choose an area big enough for the swim spa itself and some spare space to move around it. Check out the pool sizes here to ensure you have allocated an appropriately sized space.

If you intend to install your swim spa inside, you’ll need to ensure there is appropriate floor drainage and plenty of ventilation to prevent moisture build-up. The flooring materials will also need to handle minor water accumulation and provide good grip when wet.

For external installation, keep reading the following steps…

Step 2: Structural Integrity

When filled with water, your swim spa will be quite heavy. So, you’ll need to ensure the installation surface has the structural integrity to support it.

A 150mm (15cm) thick reinforced concrete pad is probably the best option, but not the only one! If you are considering placing your swim spa on a deck, you will need to verify the maximum load capacity - this is especially important if it’s an elevated deck. A qualified engineer can help to verify this for you.

Step 3: Level Surface

To ensure the correct operation and drainage ability, your swim spa will need to be placed on a level surface. So, make sure your planned installation spot is completely flat well ahead of the installation team’s planned arrival date.

Step 4: Power Source

Endless Pools Swim Spas (and their components) require a specific power supply. As a guide, you'll need a minimum of 24-amps for R-series models and a minimum of 32-amps for our larger swim spas. If you're unsure about your property's power capacity, we recommend consulting a licensed electrician before your installation.

Step 5: Access

For expert swim spa setup in Hawkes Bay homes, our team will need to have appropriate access to your intended installation area. That may mean the temporary removal of certain gates or fences. Our team will discuss this with you before installation so you can be prepared if this step is required.

Step 6: Enjoy Your Swim Spa

As long as you have completed the 5 simple steps for installation, our qualified and licenced pool professionals will be there to install your swim on the agreed date.

The best news is that it will be ready to use as soon as they leave your property!

Your FAQs Answered

Got some questions about the Endless Pools Swim Spas? Maybe we can answer them for you here:

That is a big, giant YES! In fact, an Endless Pool is so versatile, that it can be used as more than just a hot tub. Sure you can use the soothing warm waters to soak away any muscle aches and stress, but you can also use it for hydrotherapy due to its high powered massaging jets.

Can you use salt water in an Endless Pool?

Salt water is not suitable for Endless Pools. For water care, these swim spas are equipped with an advanced system that includes UVC sanitation and CD Ozone, which work together to keep the water clean and clear without the need for salt.

How long will an Endless Pool last?

Our swim spas are built to last. We are so confident in this that we offer a Worry-Free Warranty with all of our Endless Pools. Check out the details of that here.

Does a swim spa add value to your home?

Realtors often consider swimming pools to be a neutral value as while they can be a huge selling point, they can also incur major ongoing costs. Comparatively, swim spa installation is a great value-add option due to its versatility, lower installation costs and minor maintenance requirements.

Are swim spas cheaper to maintain than a traditional pool?

Yes, they sure are! With very little maintenance required, you are only looking at a few hundred dollars a year to top up the chemicals. Because the average swimming pool pump needs to run 10 hours a day, it can add an extra $140 to your power bill every month! And that’s not even a heated pool - it would set you back $15-20k to install a pool heater, plus additional power costs to run it.

That’s just the physical cost too, there is plenty of time investment for a traditional pool, such as weekly vacuuming and skimmers to empty. By comparison, swim spas use fewer chemicals, require very little maintenance, and more more affordable to run.
